04月02日: VN-Index returned to green (VN-Index +0.43%)

  • The negativity continued as VN-Index started well below the reference mark.
  • Banking sector weighed on the market following rumors regarding the relationship between STB (-3.82%) and the Van Thinh Phat scandal. Other sectors were also affected which further dragged the market down
  • However, the bank’s officials quickly corrected the rumors being untrue, and investors’ sentiment stabilized and the market began to move up.
  • Buying forces grew stronger in the afternoon. Chemical sector and Oil & Gas sector led the rally, bringing the market back to the green just before closing.
  • The market breadth returned to balance with 248 winners, 241 losers and 66 unchanged.
  • Liquidity jumped 18.5% to VND 27.5 trillion thanks to bottom-fishing activities.

VN-30 fell short (VN-30 -0.02%)

  • The basket also leaned to buy-side with 15 increasing stocks, 13 decreasing stocks and 2 staying the same.
  • The notable gains of GVR (+6.98%), GAS (+2.36%), MSN (+1.50%), BCM (+1.71%) could not outweigh the pressures from Banking stocks such as STB (-3.82%), VCB (-0.74%)

Sectors and stocks daily highlights

  • Oil & Gas stocks PVD (+6.24%), PVB (+5.62%), PVC (+4.00%) jumped significantly as global oil prices rose over concerns of Middle East conflicts.
  • FMC (+1.42%) increased as the company achieved USD 19.17 million revenue in March, up 32% YoY. Off-season shrimp farming was also positive which can benefit the company’s result in the future.
  • Foreign investors net sold another of VND 737 billion today. STB (-3.82%) and VCI (0.00%) were the most net sold stocks. On the other hand, TCB (+0.42%) topped the net bought list by a wide margin.
