VN-Index drops as selling pressure prevails (VN-Index -0.39%)

    • The VN-Index opened near the previous session’s close and extended its decline as selling pressure in Vin Group-related stocks intensified.
    • The index briefly recovered into positive territory after the selling pressure waned. Higher crude oil prices helped fuel gains in BSR (+3.45%) and GAS (+3.38%).
    • Performance was mixed across sectors in the afternoon session. Large-cap stocks remained relatively stable, whereas mid- and small-cap stocks moved lower.
    • Market breadth ended with 85 advancers, 229 decliners, and 54 unchanged stocks.
    • Market turnover increased by 14.7% from the previous session to VND 19.5 trillion. The VN-Index closed at 1,788.23 points (-0.39%).

VN30 sees sideways trading (VN30 -0.42%)

    • The basket recorded 13 gainers, 13 decliners, and 4 unchanged stocks.
    • MWG (-2.10%), HPG (-1.88%), and LPB (-1.50%) moved lower.
    • On the upside, SSB (+6.83%), BSR (+3.45%), and GAS (+3.38%) were among the notable gainers.

Sectors and stocks daily highlights

    • The State Capital Investment Corporation (SCIC) announced plans to divest its entire 63.38% stake in SEA (-1.88%). The starting price is expected to be set at VND 107,400 per share.
    • Market Vector Vietnam Local Index announced its quarterly review results, adding SSB (+6.83%) and removing CEO (-2.52%). The index serves as the benchmark for the VanEck Vectors Vietnam ETF (VNM ETF), which has approximately USD 500 million in assets under management.
    • Foreign investors registered net buying of VND 814.7 billion. VPB (+1.66%), MBB (-0.25%), and TCB (+0.79%) attracted notable foreign net buying, while HPG (-1.88%) faced the strongest foreign net selling.
