VN-Index narrowed its loss toward the close (VN-Index -0.22%)

  • The VN-Index opened nearly flat amid a tug-of-war between buyers and sellers.
  • In the morning session, selling pressure dominated, leading to broad-based declines across many stocks. Mid- and small-cap stocks were particularly hit hard. Meanwhile, select stocks such as GAS (-1.59%), BSR (-2.97%), and PNJ (+6.85%) advanced, providing support to the market.
  • In the afternoon session, buying interest returned to mid- and small-cap stocks, briefly pulling the index back into positive territory. However, declines in GAS (-1.59%), BSR (-2.97%), and VIC (-1.10%) toward the close capped the market’s overall upside.
  • Market breadth was negative, with 130 advancers, 175 decliners, and 63 unchanged stocks.
  • Market turnover increased by 73.41% from the previous session to VND 27.54 trillion. The VN-Index closed down 0.22% from the previous session at 1,735.09 points.

VN30 fell for the third consecutive session (VN30 -0.19%)

  • The VN30 basket recorded 11 gainers, 16 decliners, and 3 unchanged stocks.
  • FPT (-3.02%), BSR (-2.97%), and GVR (-2.95%) posted sharp losses.
  • On the other hand, HDB (+3.94%) led the gains, followed by VPB (+1.49%) and TCB (+1.41%).

Sectors and stocks daily highlights

  • SAS (+8.85%) surged after announcing at its extraordinary general meeting of shareholders that 9M2026 cumulative pre-tax profit reached VND 660 billion (+62% YoY), fulfilling over 80% of its annual plan. The company also stated plans to expand operations to Long Thanh Airport and sign duty-free supply contracts moving forward.
  • PNJ (+6.85%) bounced back and hit the ceiling price after announcing that its commercial diamonds were certified as 100% natural and compliant with standards by the Asian Institute of Gemological Sciences (AIGS), recovering from recent heavy selling pressure.
  • Foreign investors recorded a heavy net selling of VND 9,693.2 billion, with MCH (-0.35%) accounting for almost the entire amount. On the buying side, VHM (+0.46%) and SHB (-0.50%) were the main net buys.
