VN-Index edged lower amid cautious trading (VN-Index -0.32%)

    • The VN-Index opened above the reference level, but buying activity remained cautious, reflecting hesitant market sentiment.
    • In the morning session, selling pressure remained dominant, leaving market breadth skewed toward decliners. Trading activity was mainly concentrated in the Retail, Banking and Real Estate sectors, although performance remained mixed. The VN-Index was weighed down primarily by large-cap stocks, while GVR (+3.66%), MCH (+1.21%), and BSR (+2.09%) provided some support.
    • The index gradually recovered from its intraday lows as buying demand improved, although liquidity fell and selling pressure remained on Vingroup stocks such as VIC (-0.86%) and VHM (-1.45%), as well as Banking stocks. The market was volatile, with strong buying and selling pressure among large-cap stocks.
    • Market breadth ended almost balanced, with 150 advancers, 151 decliners, and 64 unchanged stocks.
    • Market turnover decreased by 22.23% from the previous session to VND 15.23 trillion. The VN-Index closed at 1,753.39 points (-0.32%).

VN30 closed slightly lower (VN30 -0.24%)

    • The basket recorded 11 gainers and 19 decliners, with no unchanged stocks.
    • MSN (+4.44%), GVR (+3.66%), and VIB (+2.96%) led the gains.
    • On the downside, LPB (-4.33%), VRE (-2.31%), and TCX (-2.27%) were the steepest decliners.

Sectors and stocks daily highlights

    • CAR (+9.96%) extended its ceiling-price rally. The company stated that its recent share-price surge was driven by market supply and demand rather than any undisclosed material information. CAR had recorded multiple consecutive ceiling sessions, despite being placed on the non-margin trading list in September.
    • HDB (+0.18%) ranked second for operating performance among the 50 largest listed banks in Southeast Asia in S&P Global Market Intelligence’s 2025 ranking, and ranked highest among Vietnamese banks. HDBank posted ROAE of 26.11% and CIR of 27.13%, both among the strongest in the peer group.
    • Foreign investors recorded net selling of VND 900.49 billion. PNJ (-6.20%) and TCB (-0.46%) faced notable net foreign selling pressure, while no stocks attracted notable net foreign buying interest.
