VN-Index recovers after sharp sell-off (VN-Index +1.85%)

    • VN-Index staged an early recovery but repeatedly lost momentum as renewed selling pressure pushed the index back toward the 1,660-point level before noon.
    • Broad-based weakness persisted across Financials, Materials, Consumer, and Industrials, while gains in Vingroup-related stocks – particularly VIC (+5.89%) and VHM (+4.02%) – prevented a deeper decline.
    • Bargain-hunting demand strengthened in the afternoon, led by Vingroup- and Gelex-related stocks. Strong buying in the ATC session helped the VN-Index briefly reclaim the 1,700-point level before closing at 1,699.38 points.
    • Market breadth ended with 198 advancers, 127 decliners, and 48 unchanged stocks.
    • Market liquidity declined by 14.4% from the previous trading session to VND 20.0 trillion. The VN-Index closed at 1,699.38 points (+1.85%).

VN30 rebounded broadly (VN30 +1.01%)

    • The basket recorded 21 gainers, 7 decliners, and 2 unchanged stocks.
    • VIC (+5.89%) led the gains, followed by VHM (+4.02%), SSI (+3.97%), and GAS (+3.73%).
    • On the downside, VNM (-2.20%), LPB (-2.02%) and MBB (-1.34%) posted the steepest declines.

Sectors and stocks daily highlights

    • NTP (+1.68%) reported record 2Q2026 results, with net profit surging 49% YoY to VND 478 billion, supported by low-cost raw material inventories accumulated earlier this year. The company has completed nearly 98% of its FY2026 pre-tax profit target after the first six months.
    • TNG (+1.81%) posted record quarterly revenue and net profit, rising 15% and 22% YoY, respectively. Despite the strong earnings growth, the stock remains well below its March 2026 peak amid the broader market correction.
    • Foreign investors recorded net selling of VND 514.8 billion. MBB (-1.34%) and TCB (+0.86%) were the most heavily net sold, while SHB (+2.56%), LPB (-2.02%), and VIC (+5.89%) attracted the strongest net buying.
