VN-Index narrowed losses towards the close (VN-Index -0.25%)

    • The VN-Index opened near the reference level with divergent movements across sectors.
    • During the morning session, widespread selling pressure emerged on concerns over the possibility of further US interest rate hikes within the year, causing the index to expand its decline.
    • In the afternoon session, selling pressure subsided and the index stopped falling. Insurance stocks advanced, while surging crude oil prices lifted BSR (+6.58%) and GAS (+3.73%), supporting the market.
    • Market breadth ended with 105 advancers, 227 decliners, and 38 unchanged stocks.
    • Market turnover decreased by 1.20% from the previous session to VND 15.1 trillion. The VN-Index closed at 1,780.68 points (-0.25%).

VN30 saw widespread selling pressure (VN30 -0.83%)

    • The basket recorded 8 gainers, 21 decliners, and 1 unchanged stock.
    • SSB (-3.08%), TCX (-2.67%), and SSI (-2.66%) were among the decliners.
    • On the other hand, BSR (+6.58%) surged significantly, followed by GAS (+3.73%).

Sectors and stocks daily highlights

    • PNJ (-6.97%) hit the floor limit after provisioned VND 7,070 billion following an alleged diamond appraisal scandal stemming from a former subsidiary director’s involvement in smuggling, revising its 2026 full-year plan to a net loss of VND 6,271 billion. The company also announced capital raising plans and a dividend cut.
    • NVL (-6.75%) fell sharply, negatively impacted by reports that Diamond Properties (an entity related to NVL’s Chairman) and the company’s labor union continuously registered to sell shares.
    • Foreign investors recorded net selling of VND 301 billion. VPB (-0.22%) and BVH (+6.98%) faced the strongest net foreign selling pressure, while no stocks recorded notable net foreign buying.
