VN-Index falls below 1,800 points (VN-Index -0.88%)

    • The VN-Index opened higher, with buying momentum prevailing across most sectors, driven by the first day of FTSE’s upgrade implementation. The 27 constituent stocks added to the FTSE Emerging All Cap Index generally started trading on a positive note.
    • Following the initial wave of buying, profit-taking pressure took over, causing the index to turn downward.
    • In particular, heavy selling in Vingroup-related stocks such as VIC (-2.57%), VHM (-4.08%), and VRE (-2.94%) weighed on the market, accelerating the decline toward the close. Additionally, trading activity remained muted, with relatively low liquidity.
    • Market breadth ended with 105 advancers, 205 decliners, and 60 unchanged stocks.
    • Market turnover decreased by 33.2% from the previous session to VND 17.3 trillion. The VN-Index closed at 1,799.67 points (-0.88%).

VN30 shows mixed performance across constituent stocks (VN30 -0.56%)

    • The basket recorded 12 gainers, 16 decliners, and 2 unchanged stocks.
    • SSB (-6.85%), VHM (-4.08%), and LPB (-3.96%) suffered sharp declines.
    • On the upside, VJC (+6.98%), BSR (+4.47%), and VPB (+3.64%) recorded strong gains.

Sectors and stocks daily highlights

    • Foreign investors recorded net selling of VND 613.6 billion. VHM (-4.08%) and VIC (-2.57%) faced notable net foreign selling pressure, while MCH (0.00%) was the most net-sold stock.
