VN-Index edged up slightly (VN-Index +0.03%)

    • The VN-Index opened slightly above the reference level but quickly turned choppy, slipping into negative territory amid subdued liquidity.
    • During the morning session, the VN-Index ticked down amid pre-holiday caution as weakness in VHM (-1.08%) and subdued performance in VIC (0.00%) weighed on the index despite the cushioning efforts of SSB (+6.88%) and STB (+2.72%).
    • The afternoon session saw a notable recovery, supported by a rebound in heavyweight stocks and stronger trading activity in the Banking sector. SSB (+6.88%) hit its ceiling price, while STB (+2.72%) and VPB (+1.46%) also posted solid gains.
    • Market breadth ended with 141 advancers, 162 decliners, and 71 unchanged stocks.
    • Market liquidity increased by 8.57% from the previous session to VND 17,365 billion. The VN-Index closed at 1,832.12 points (+0.03%).

VN30 recorded positive performance (VN30 +0.19%)

    • The basket recorded 13 gainers, 11 decliners, and 6 unchanged stocks.
    • SSB (+6.88%), STB (+2.72%), and SHB (+2.52%) led the gainers.
    • Conversely, TCB (-2.05%) was the most notable decliner, followed by GVR (-1.02%) and MWG (-1.19%).

Sectors and stocks daily highlights

    • PV GAS – GAS (-0.12%) announced that it no longer meets the public-company ownership requirements, as non-major shareholders held only 4.24% of its voting shares as of August 14, below the statutory minimum of 10%. The company said it would continue to comply with public-company regulations until its status is formally revoked by the State Securities Commission.
    • PetroVietnam Fertilizer & Chemicals Corporation (PVFCCo) – DPM (-0.23%) is the only representative from the fertilizer and chemical industry to be included in the Top 50 leading ESG companies in 2026, as announced by Forbes Vietnam.
    • Foreign investors recorded net buying of VND 327.71 billion. FPT (+1.39%), TCB (-2.05%), and VPB (+1.46%) attracted the strongest net foreign buying interest, while VIC (+0.00%) faced notable net foreign selling pressure.
