VN-Index edges up despite mixed market breadth (VN-Index +0.15%)

    • The VN-Index extended the previous session’s gains at the open.
    • During the morning session, Real Estate led sector performance, primarily driven by Vingroup stocks VIC (+2.80%) and VHM (+0.27%), which were also among the top foreign net buying. However, most other real-estate stocks failed to sustain the previous session’s gains. Oil & Gas and Construction Materials were among the weakest performers.
    • In the afternoon session, buying momentum gradually faded, with the index closing below its opening level. In contrast to the previous session, HPG (-2.02%) came under selling pressure.
    • Market breadth ended with 93 advancers, 225 decliners, and 58 unchanged stocks.
    • Market liquidity increased by 10.33% from the previous session to VND 21,380 billion. The VN-Index closed at 1,791.41 points (+0.15%).

VN30 edges lower amid mixed performance (VN30 -0.30%)

    • The basket recorded 9 gainers, 19 decliners, and 2 unchanged stocks.
    • VIC (+2.80%), SSB (+2.26%), and MCH (+1.50%) were the top gainers.
    • On the down side, BSR (-2.55%), HPG (-2.02%), and GAS (-1.76%) were among the notable decliners.

Sectors and stocks daily highlights

    • EVF (-1.19%) held its 2026 Extraordinary General Meeting, approving a private placement to raise charter capital and an increase in its foreign ownership limit from 15% to a maximum of 50%. The higher foreign ownership cap is expected to broaden EVF’s foreign investor base and enhance its access to international capital
    • TCM (+6.95%) hit its ceiling price after board member Nguyen Van Nghia reported the completion of a sale of 4.85mn TCM shares during July 23–August 21, reducing his ownership from 9.72% to 5.60%. Of the shares sold during the period, 147,700 shares were subject to forced selling by securities firms.
    • Foreign investors recorded net buying of VND 270.51 billion. VIC (+2.80%) and VIX (+2.17%) attracted notable net foreign buying interest, while foreign selling was relatively dispersed across individual stocks.
