VN-Index remained firm (VN-Index +1.17%)
- The VN-Index opened higher today, driven by the announcement of FTSE Russell index inclusions released on Friday evening, August 21.
- During the morning session, the index was led higher by VCB (+0.17%), VIC (+4.63%), VHM (+2.37%), BID (0.00%), HPG (+2.53%), and VPB (+2.53%), which are expected to attract capital inflows. After the initial buying enthusiasm waned, the index narrowed its gains.
- In the afternoon session, the index moved sideways while holding onto its gains, while select small- and mid-cap real estate stocks attracted buying interest and advanced.
- Market breadth ended with 204 advancers, 118 decliners, and 59 unchanged stocks.
- Market liquidity increased by 5.4% from the previous session to VND 19.4 trillion. The VN-Index closed at 1,788.78 points (+1.17%).
VN30 saw stronger buying interest (VN30 +0.74%)
- The basket recorded 16 gainers, 9 decliners, and 5 unchanged stocks.
- VIC (+4.63%), HPG (+2.53%), and VPB (+2.53%) were the largest gainers.
- On the flip side, LPB (-1.80%), SAB (-1.50%), and ACB (-1.10%) were among the notable decliners.
Sectors and stocks daily highlights
- PNJ (+6.89%) hit the ceiling price for the second consecutive trading session as buying interest surged after the Thanh Hoa Provincial Police investigation confirmed that smuggled diamonds had not entered the company’s distribution system.
- BSR (+2.05%) recorded cumulative revenue of VND 120 trillion and pre-tax profit of approximately VND 18.9 trillion in the first seven months of 2026. Dung Quat Refinery operated at a record average capacity utilization of 124% during the same period.
- Foreign investors recorded net buying of VND 175.90 billion. HPG (+2.53%) attracted notable net foreign buying interest, while no individual stock faced prominent foreign selling pressure.
