VN-Index edges down (VN-Index -1.54%)

    • VN-Index opened slightly higher but remained volatile around the reference level, as broad-based gains were offset by selling pressure from Vingroup tickers, particularly VIC (-3.53%) and VHM (-2.71%).
    • The morning session gradually improved, with gains spreading across most sectors, particularly Consumer staples, Banking, and Securities. The VN-Index closed the morning at 1,795.54 points, up 2.36 points (+0.13%).
    • The afternoon session saw a sharp reversal as selling pressure intensified alongside rising liquidity, wiping out the morning’s gains. The decline was led by Real estate and other Large-cap names, particularly VIC (-3.53%), VHM (-2.71%), and FPT (-2.26%).
    • Market breadth ended with 85 advancers, 227 decliners, and 60 unchanged stocks
    • Market liquidity increased +32.9% from the previous session to VND 18,664 billion, and the VN-Index closed at 1,765.63 points (-1.54%).

VN30 recorded negative performance (VN30 -1.41%)

    • The basket recorded 4 gainers, 24 decliners, and 2 unchanged stocks.
    • The index was pressured by Vingroup tickers, with VIC (-3.53%), VRE (-3.34%), and VHM (-2.71%) recording the steepest declines in the basket.
    • Conversely, GVR (+1.24%), TCB (+0.63%), MSN (+0.60%), and MCH (+0.51%) managed to stay in positive territory.

Sectors and stocks daily highlights

    • Masan High-Tech Materials (MSR +3.10%) reported an extraordinary profit of VND 2,202 billion in 1H2026, equivalent to its total earnings over the previous 16 years combined, enabling a proposed cash dividend payout of approximately VND 1,100 billion, or 50% of its 1H2026 net profit, while continuing to reduce leverage ahead of schedule.
    • In its Q3 2026 review, the MSCI Frontier Markets Index added three Vietnamese bank stocks: ACB (-2.42%), SSB (-1.62%), and MSB (+0.62%), while removing CEO (-3.25%), DGW (+5.24%), and HDG (-1.51%). The changes will take effect from September 1, 2026.
    • Foreign investors recorded a net selling value of VND 572.47 billion. TCB (+0.63%), VHM (-2.71%), and VIC (-3.53%) faced the strongest net selling pressure, while GEX (-2.87%), LPB (0.00%), and SSI (-1.19%) attracted the strongest net buying interest.
